My partner's respiratory sensitivity made us rethink cleaning products. After testing more than fifty recipes, I kept five ingredients that cover almost everything: effective, safe, and budget-friendly.
Diluted 1:1 with water, it dissolves limescale and shines stainless steel. I avoid natural stone (marble, granite). A small cup in the softener tray replaces fabric softener without harsh fragrance.
Perfect for sinks, a cooled oven, and stubborn stains. I turn it into a paste with a little water and a drop of Castile soap.
Highly concentrated, it cleans floors, countertops, and even the bathroom. Two tablespoons in a bucket of warm water handle most surfaces.
Useful for disinfecting handles and switches. I use a dark spray bottle and allow 30 seconds of contact time. Do not mix with vinegar or bleach.
Tea tree, lemon, lavender: a few drops for a light scent. I keep it minimal and avoid use around sensitive pets or very young children.
Conclusion: With five ingredients and three basic recipes, I replaced more than ten store-bought bottles. Cleaning is simpler, less perfumed, and cheaper.
